Drake & Scull Facilities Management (DSFM) runs a 24/7 integrated service-provision model in the "Facilities Management Priority Zone" (FMPZ), for eThekwini Municipality.
eThekwini municipality is implementing the project in order to transform Durban’s inner city from a crime and grime-ridden area into a pleasant experience for all. The project falls under the auspices of Jonathan Edkins, Deputy Head of the Architecture department
of eThekwini, and is spearheaded by Derek White, urban development manager of City Architects.

In line with the Municipality’s Renewal and Urban Management Programme, this pilot model has been maximising and integrating municipal line services within the demarcated zone since early 2010. The result is a cleaner, safer inner city - and a model that can be duplicated universally. DSFM’s work alongside the Municipality is transforming a CBD whose potential has lain dormant for years...
The FMPZ is home to informal trade and flea markets, taxi ranks, shopping centres, commercial & nationally strategic buildings, leading businesses, parks and museums – a full representation of the greater city’s diverse demographic.
